The public image of the homeless is still drunk old men sleeping on park benches, but research shows that a mere 6% of the homeless are living on the streets. The rest are living, hidden from public view, in insecure, impermanent, unsuitable, overcrowded and often unsafe places. They have a temporary roof over their heads but not a home.
